MODRUN Day 1

Today is MODRUN Day 1. MODRUN is the Modified Running Streak that I am doing for April. Run every day for 6 days a week.

The weather is getting better so I hope you join me. I’ll be posting pics from the run or the cool-down on my Instagram and on Twitter with the hashtag #MODRUN. 

And of course, I’ll keep you updated here on the blog.

I am training for a half-marathon but I think a short run is fine even on cross-training days and then of course, I’ll be resting completely on Saturdays.

Today’s run was close to 2.5 miles. I lost track because my phone died at 2.16 miles.  After the run, I made sure to stretch every muscle I could think of in my legs.

When I do running streaks, my muscles usually hurt. That’s because exertion causes micro-tears in the muscles. Resting between runs allows the tears to heal so the process can start again with the next run. Running everyday means the tears are not getting time to reconnect and heal completely, therefore the muscles are more responsive. However, it also means I need to stretch to keep the pain at bay.

Nutrition is the key to the running streak. Have to eat right to make sure my body can perform at its best. Eat right to RUNWRIGHT!

Tomorrow’s run is a training run so it will be a little longer. Hope you’ll join me again.

  1. I haven’t done a running streak and don’t think I would… I just don’t see a benefit to running every day, even if it’s just a mile, for the sake of saying I ran.
    I can see how it can be very motivational for some, in that case they should go for it.

    I love this MODRUN idea. I ran 21 days straight in January and then I was too sick to continue. I believe we have been designed for that seventh day of rest and I guess that can mean the things we call fun too! So here it is April 11th lets see if I can stick to 6 days a week for 6 weeks too!
