It was the official Day 3 of the MODRUN. I didn’t feel like running today. It was the kind of day when I wouldn’t have gone running but I’d made a commitment to run every day, 6 days a week for the month of April so I had to. And it was one of the best decisions. I was hurting and aching and then after I ran, I just felt accomplished and pain free. (I’ve always recommended exercise as a painkiller – before I pop an Advil, I stretch)

I ran 1.5 miles in 14 minutes, 9.10 min/mile – fastest pace in a long time.  For my readers who are fast runners, this doesn’t impress them, but I haven’t been running fast for a long time. And honestly, I wasn’t even focusing on running fast today, I just wanted to focus on running a mile and this is what happened.

I have a long way to go in terms of speed and stamina but I am loving my progress. I love the fact that I am getting over the sluggish winter habits where I sat around and watched snow through my window. Thank God winter is over!

And because improving health is not just exercise but also focus on nutrition and rest, these are some of today’s food pics:

Food is fuel
Food is fuel – apples and peanut butter before the run, selfie from the run, Runkeeper props and curried lentils to refuel.

And just a little motivation for the rest of the day:

Let’s keep at it. Eat Right, Live Right and RUNWRIGHT!

  1. I agree that food is a huge factor in health and fitness. I can really feel the difference when I eat healthy and when I don’t.
Good job on your run, especially since you weren’t feeling well.

Thanks. I was so glad I pushed through the feeling.
