It’s Week 2 Day 2 of the MODRUN (MODified RUNning Streak for April) and I am feeling the benefits. Benefit #1 of MODRUN: Not wondering if today is a “Run” day, because every day (except Sat) is a RUN day. Get up, eat breakfast, do morning stuff, go running, stretch, do some strength training, cool down, refuel and get on with the rest of the day. There is a lot to be said for having some part of my life being structured. It might be the way I was raised by parents who are educators, it might be my formal education at a girls school, it might be my training as an engineer, it might be a combination of all those things but I really like structure and schedules and routines to be part (NOT ALL) of my life.
Today’s run was an easy 2.13 miles, at an average pace of 9.5 minutes per mile. I loved the way I felt while I was running, like I was finally making some progress.

No matter how great your workout schedule, when you take a long time off, you lose some of the muscle memory and some of the momentum and the first day back is always challenging. I call that “Day One.. Again“. When I only run sporadically, it always feels like I am constantly on day one of my training plan. Day One… Again.
Today, I finally feel like I am breaking that cycle. And that’s why I am loving the running streak. I can feel my leg muscles getting stronger. I can feel my breathing getting better. I can feel my mind saying “yes, that hill is no problem.” I don’t want to overdo it but I want to keep building. I have goals that need to start getting accomplished real soon.
MODRUN Week 2 is looking good and it’s just Monday. #RunWright
How are you doing with your goals?
I love when I can feel my legs getting stronger – such a good feeling!

It really gives you that extra push to keep running, doesn’t it?

I really like structure too, like you, not for everything, but a good balance of structure and spontaneity makes life easier to deal with for me.
And I agree “day 1” is always so tough!

Oh thanks so much, I don’t feel weird anymore. I think it’s all about moderation. Not regimented, not lawlessness, just a nice balance.

Thanks. I like the vibrant colors and patterns. I’ll take run-inspiration wherever I can get it.
