Yesterday I shared the G-BOMBS that I read about in Joel Fuhrman’s book, The End Of Dieting, that I’ve been thumbing through for the past few days. It’s a great book, and it reiterates some things I’ve heard and read about but it also says some things that are not popular with us, like the fact that all calories are not created equal and that all oils have 120 calories per tbsp so you can’t pour on the olive oil and think that you’re eating healthy.
The recommendation is not for vegetarian or vegan or pescatarian diets because the focus is not on diets which restrict what you can’t eat. Instead, the focus is on finding healthy, nutritious food that you can eat daily.
G-BOMBS are Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and Seeds
Breakfast this morning was this delicious oatmeal with fresh blueberries, a sliced banana and a tablespoon of chia seeds. No salt, no sugar, no almond milk added. Because honestly, I don’t need those things. The foods taste good enough naturally without adding anything. The first bites might be shocking because we are (I am) so used to what it tastes like with all the additives. But it’s really good enough without it.
Getting your G-BOMBS don’t mean you can’t eat other foods. I made this delicious salad yesterday and just because I wanted to, I added some delicious croutons to amp it up.
The salad incorporated greens, raw onions, steamed mushrooms, steamed carrots and I had a half a cup of cooked red lentils on the side.
I’m doing this. The End of Dieting doesn’t mean not eating anything else. But I’m taking a step in the right direction. Today, I decided to make some better food choices and give my body the best chance to perform at its best.
Hope you’ll follow me on this journey.
