You’ve heard that saying before. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.
Skinny is a feeling. Forget about what the scale says.
The best feeling is not seeing the number on the scale go down. The best feeling is that time you try on the pants you’ve had in the back of your closet for months, maybe years, not wanting to give up on the idea that someday, somehow they would fit, and they FINALLY fit. And not just fit in the way that if you exhale in a normal way, the button might fly off. They fit like they’re supposed to, so they look like pants and not jeggings. That feeling.
The feeling when the skirt that used to be tight now feels just a little loose and you start thinking about getting it altered so the waist is a little smaller. That feeling.
That’s the feeling we diet for.
Forget about compliments. It’s great when others validate our success but the person whose opinion matters most is your own.
Forget about the scale.
If you’re on a weight loss journey, it’s not weight loss you’re chasing, it’s inch-loss. Because when you follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen, you will be replacing bulky fat with lean muscle, and the inches will come down.
I love food. I could be a total foodie and I could also eat my weight in chocolate. But nothing, absolutely nothing, tastes as good as skinny feels.
My focus this year is not on weight loss. I just want to get to my healthiest state. And if that healthy body wears a smaller size, I’ll be okay with that.
