WIAW Best And Worst Of Camp

I spent a week at camp and it was the most consistent fun I’ve had in a long time.
I have lots to share. Travel Stories. Food. Events. People. Family. Experiences. Inspirations. And while I could write an epic, I’ll try to organize and not overwhelm you.
So since it’s Wednesday, I’ll start with the WIAW food post and highlight some of the meals I loved or hated about this camping trip.
You remember my snack plans for the 18 hour trip that turned into about 23 hours on the bus?
Thank God I was well prepared because when our bus broke down for 3 hours, we had to make up time on the road and there was no rest stop for the first 14 hours of the trip.
Because we were planning to be at Camporee for a week, we had a caterer for our food service and that turned out to be a disappointment. This is some of the food he churned out.
Roasted potatoes with veggie chunks was ok but there were no vegetables

There was pasta with minimal sauce and minimal taste and limited vegetables

And Rice with veggie dinner roast that was just blah. And again, I need more vegetables!

So we rescinded on the meal plan and started making our own food again. After a couple days of the meal plan, this tuna salad, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and cheese sandwich tasted like heaven.

And of course road-trip food:
Pecan roll from Panera

Pita chips with artichoke tapenade

And it’s not a road trip if someone doesn’t bring out a random assembly, in this case, honey roasted nuts, kettle corn and M&Ms.

Camp food is really the best. I usually eat the best and the worst during camp. That’s what makes it so much fun.
