WIAW Wonder Why They Call Them Sand-wiches

Since it’s still summer and the last few days gave been too hot to cook anything complicated, I’ve taken to making sandwiches, lots of sandwiches that, since there is no beach involved, had no sand in them. Thank God for that.
I bought some rolls and proceeded to fill them with anything that would go between two slices of bread, mostly cheese, tomatoes and romaine lettuce.

I re-discovered something about myself. I don’t like American cheese. Is that un-patriotic?
Regardless, I have a package of Kraft cheese slices that need to get used up so I’ll be not-liking it for many days to come.

Eventually I switched to open faced sandwiches for snacks, like these crackers topped with whatever I could find.

Sandwiches aren’t so bad after all.

Aww. Thanks. The guacamole-type topping made it really tasty.

  2. I despise American cheese! It isn’t real cheese to me.

Haha. It’s “processed cheese product”, not cheese. I bought it for some kids, bought too much and ended up with lots of leftovers. Maybe I need to invite some more kids to visit.
