How long after you start a workout do you notice the difference? How much work do I have to put in before I can throw away my “fat-pants”? How much exercise before everyone starts to notice? Those are not really my motivations but I had to get your attention.
It feels like my body is taking forever to notice the work I’ve been putting in but my appetite is changing, my sleep patterns are getting better and I am finally feeling a tiny increase of firmness in my biceps. That’s progress! It takes 21 days to form a new habit and 4 weeks into my exercise plan, I notice that I have formed a fitness habit – it’s getting that if I don’t workout at the gym, I do exercises at home or run outside. That’s progress!
I keep reminding myself that…
And even if my body is not showing that progress yet, it’s feeling better and getting stronger everyday, with every good choice I make.
The truth is if you’ve been at a specific weight for a long time, your body now sees that weight as your normal weight and it does what it needs to in order to keep you hovering around that number. You have to put in the work that convinces your body to let go of that norm and get to another, healthier one.
The struggle is real but I can’t quit. I’m going to keep doing it…

Great article and inspiration. I find that just from exercising I have better skin and I am more positive and happy plus I sleep better as well!
Thanks for dropping by my blog and good luck with your November goals, especially your writing goals!

Yup. Better sleep habits. That alone is reason to exercise 😊
