Missing: warm weather – riding my bicycle, running outside, hiking and camping. This winter needs to be over soon so I can get back to my outdoor adventures.
Watching for inspiration: Sabotaging yourself with the word ‘Fine’
Reading online: Be happy in yourself
Reading in print: I just finished 100 Years Of Solitude and I can’t read just any old thing after that… so I decided to keep going with Señor Marquez and read Love In The Time Of Cholera next.
Eating: I’m trying to readjust my diet and crown myself the queen of the stir-fry again. Here’s WIAW (What I Ate Wednesday):
Writing: this little story on my iPhone a few moments ago.
She slips it into conversation. The weather is warm today, it being her milestone birthday and all, and she thinks she will pick up some pasta for dinner. I want to ask if her birthday deserves this nonchalance. I want to ask her if this is what I have to look forward to when I am her age - delivering announcements to uninterested ears, like carelessly stuffing deli meat between slices of day old bread and serving it to an unwilling vegetarian. In sing the happy birthday song, I ask, jokingly, how old she is. I don't believe but hope she will answer. Unsmilingly, she says she is twenty. How can I expect to receive the gift of wisdom borne of experience from one who refuses to be a teacher? Why do I expect to receive a gift when it's her birthday?
