Life is an adventure; live it! When you think of adventure, do you envision a skydiving excursion, a zip line across the Grand Canyon, a scuba dive to the Atlantic Ocean floor?
The poet Rumi encourages the thrill seeker to look inwards for the next adventure.
And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?
Self discovery is the first journey you take. You learn how your body works. And when you have accepted certain truths about your body, you shift focus to your mind. You learn the things you love and question why you love them. You learn the people you attract and you decide if they are the ones you want to keep around.
When you have learned how to receive and return love, you are ready to create it.
Do the things that inspire love in the world. Write, sing, dance, teach, run, design, create, lead, speak, serve – whatever you love, do it joyfully, knowing that your joy elicits joy in others. Smile because your smile begets the smiles of others. Give so that others will be inspired by your kindness to give to others.
The greatest gift you can give the world is your understanding of yourself, your acceptance of your purpose, and your decision to live it out every day.
The greatest adventure you will ever take is the journey into yourself – it is the road to everything.
Hiking books not required.
The journey into oneself…ahhh love it, Karen!! It is truly the most worthwhile journey, even during those difficult times where you’re more inclined to want to live the life other people expect or want from you. Sometimes that seems like the easier route, but at the end of the day you are forced to look at yourself in the mirror.
And you are so right on about the JOY! Nothing feels better than being your true joyful self and it eliciting joy in others.
I love, love, love this post. 🙂 Thanks for eliciting joy in me this beautiful Friday morning!

Karen, I can’t even tell you how much your post makes me smile. Too often, I think people associate adventure with daredevil activities, or something in the outdoors. But knowing oneself – to me, that’s the biggest and most important adventure for us. I love what you said about accepting your purpose – it’s so true! Thanks so much for sharing with us your insightful thoughts. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xo
