Swim, Bike, Run

My first triathlon happened on Shnday and I didn’t even have to pay a race fee.

On Sunday mornings, I have a one hour swim class and since we had missed the past two weeks, we spent the entire hour doing laps in the pool.

I went to a meeting and then headed to spin class. Out regular teacher and a big part of our group was away so our substitute teacher had a small group of us spinning – aka long climbs and sprints – for another hour.  My muscles cried!

Getting the bike adjusted before class
Warming up and still smiling. I definitely wasn’t smiling like this after class
And then I tried to head home, tired. But my friend convinced me to go with her to visit someone who lives on the 16th floor of a n apartment building. She took the elevator and me… I ran up and then down the stairs.

When I got home, all I could do was crash and watch a movie some Netflix while I fought a losing battle with sleep.

But before that, there were some other amazing things that happened this weekend:

Dinner with my cousins to celebrate a 60th birthday

When you’re part of a big family, you realize how many birthdays there are to celebrate. It’s like there’s one every month – I think there is. It’s awesome! We sat together, ate together, laughed together and at sunset, we had worship to end the sabbath together – old ones, young ones and in-between ones singing hymns and choruses.

I miss my family in Jamaica but family is family no matter how close your blood lines and spending Sabbath afternoon with this group was the perfect end to a rough week!

On Sunday morning, I watched the NYC 5 Boro bike tour which comes within a few blocks of where I live.

Usually, riders stick flowers of flags in their helmets so they can identify their group in the sea of riders. Honestly, it’s the only way.

I couldn’t help watching the groups of riders and remembering when I did the tour a couple years ago and was alone in group of 50,000 riders. The next tour I do, I plan to have a group too.

I tried the new trending website how-old.net where you upload a picture and it tells you how old you look.  I tried a couple times.

First I was pleased with the 29 years and then I zoomed in and tried again.

Oh dear! Distance is kinder to me. 😊

Update on last week’s goals:

  1. Write everyday – I finished a short story and a couple poems.
  2. Exercise everyday – lots of walking, lots of floor exercises
  3. 4 runs – I ran 3 days but I think the walking made up for it
  4. Finish reading The Power of Habit – I did. My review here
  5. Work on a plan for my youth-group – Still in progress
  6. Another weekend hike – postponed
  7. Donate some things – packed and ready to be delivered
  8. 1 Random act of kindness everyday – I wasn’t as intentional about this so I’ll be adding it back to this week’s goals
  9. Make time-tables to schedule the best use of my time and follow it as much as possible – hard start but it’s getting a little better

5 goals this week:

  1. Workout every day
  2. Write every day
  3. Plan my days in advance and be more intentional with how I use my time and talent.
  4. Be more attentive to portion control with my meals.
  5. Read 2 books

Haha that app looks kind of fun but I would be afraid to see what it would say about me! πŸ˜€ Your family time looks wonderful!

Don’t be afraid. Just try. I saw it on the TODAY show last week and the app said Al Roker looked like he was 84. That was hilarious.

  4. Spin class and running up and down all of those stairs sounds intense! Go you! πŸ™‚
