The temperature in NYC is expected to hit a high of 92 degrees… with humidity making it feel even warmer than that. When it’s hot like this, the tendency is to cool down with frozen lemonade, cold sodas, ice pops, ice cream… all sugary treats.
The only way to get through the heat without compromising on the detox is to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables instead.
Which is how I ended up eating plain nuts and drinking lemon and orange infused water while my friends gorged on green popcorn and sodas on the lawn at Bryant Park yesterday.
The detox does require a bit of planning ahead but it is totally possible. And you don’t need sodas or ice cream or ice cream sodas to refresh you from the summer heat. I wish I’d had the fortitude to do this a while back but I’m doing it now so no regrets.
