Every day should have a word, a dot to focus on when you’re feeling dizzy and need to find a center, a couple of syllables to roll around your tongue, a default when you find yourself staring into space and your mind blanking, a word to doodle when you’re on the phone or sitting bored in another endless meeting. Every day, you need one word.
Every day of your life is eventually going to become a memory, a page in your history. When you write in your journal at the end of the day, what will you write about?
The story of your life is happening right now!
What you think and do and experience becomes the story of your day and eventually the story of your life. You have an opportunity today to live the story you want.
- If you want today’s story to be happy, you have to find ways to add humor to your day.
- If you want today’s story to be that you helped someone, you have to find someone to help and actually do something for them.
- If you want today’s story to have a well-dressed main character, you have to choose your clothes accordingly.
Since my word today is story, I am just thinking about how whatever I am doing aligns with my values and my resolutions, and whether my choice is taking me closer to or further from my goal. Writing the word story over and over is helping me stay focused.
Everything you do and everything you experience will be a detail in your story. Make it a good one.
That’s a good word π

That’s such a unique way to think about the day ahead of (and around) you! I love the part about a “well-dressed character”!

I need to start being mindful of my daily story and being more present to write my own instead of letting other write my daily story for me!
Thanks!

That’s the point, my dear. We’ve all got to be writers.
