It’s Day 19 and I haven’t posted an update on my NaNoWriMo project. If you think it’s because I’m not doing so great, you guessed right. I’m not sure why but this year, it’s been really hard to write. Maybe because I have a lot of other writing projects going. Maybe because I feel pressured to write a perfect draft. Maybe because I’m trying a genre I’ve never written a novel-length story for before. So far, I’ve written way less than 20,000 words and this past week, I think I contributed less than 5,000 words to that total. Just as a reminder, the goal is 50K words by November 30th.
The past two days have been so busy, I haven’t even opened up the file. Tomorrow afternoon, I plan to take my computer to Starbucks, put my phone on airplane mode and get down to the business of finishing this novel. I’ve participated in the challenge several times and while I’ve never stuck to the daily schedule, there’s only been one year that I didn’t complete it. I don’t plan to fail this year either.
Any other NaNoWriMo participants reading – how’s your project going?
Wishing you lots of success – you still have time to finish! I have always wanted to do this in November, but it’s such a busy time of the year for me. I used Baty’s kit, No Plot? No Problem to do it in the summer and I had a lot of fun then. Maybe next November…
