Sketch Me A Memory 12 15 16

Pablo Picasso said “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

Most of Picasso’s artwork was abstract – not to show life the way it is but the way he saw it, the way, perhaps, he wished it was. All art allows us to do that – the novel, the movie, the painting, the sculpted bust – each item is created in the author’s mind but the reader recreates it by painting onto it, his own experience, his own need and his own unique expectation.

For today’s sketch, I took someone’s idea of a fairy and redrew it so she looks like me, with some of the bold colors I might not dare wear in everyday life and imbued in her some of the sass I wish I had on those days when I regret I wasn’t created with wings to fly away and escape my challenges. Maybe I should rename this post Sketch Me An Alternate Reality…

Sketch me a memory

If you could create an alternate reality today, what would it look like?
