Whoever says they don’t believe in global warming is going to have a hard time coming up with another explanation for why it’s hotter in NYC than it is in my homeland and tropical paradise, Jamaica. Imagine the irony when I tell my mom, who is in Jamaica, that we are having what feels like a springtime heatwave and she tells me she’s actually pretty chilly, the monsoon rain they have been having for weeks now having abated, finally, giving way to cooler than normal temperatures. Meanwhile, I am almost passed out from the 90 degree heat that is filtering through my NYC apartment. This temperature turnover feels like the twilight zone or something similar.

Weather challenges notwithstanding, the fitness challenge continues.
DAILY WORKOUT
Thursday of week 2 means it is day 9 of my virtual running partnership with Tarnished Soul. Our overall objective is to get back to regular outdoor running in a bid to improve health and fitness. Each day, I will post the planned workout and update it when we’ve completed the workout. If you’d like to join us, feel free to comment below and let me know to add you to the daily tracker.
Today’s goal is to run / run-walk for 1 mile. Yesterday, we went for 2 miles but today is warmer, the heat having settled in, making it a little harder to exercise outdoors so we’re dialing back a little on the distance. Our overall goal is to be healthy, not push ourselves too far. Come back later for the update.
Runwright Update: I ran 1.2 miles. Running that short distance felt like it took everything I had and when I was finished, I was dripping with sweat, although the verdict is still out on whether that was from the exercise or just the heat. By the time I went running, the temperature was in the high 70s.

There is no doubt that climate change is real. I live outside of NYC. It’s been unseasonable cold with a lot of rain. At least that was the case until yesterday.

I met Paul and I am just so drawn to the bravery that you have in pursuing your passion in writing. I am definitely going to get your book.
