A year ago on June 28, 2016, I published my first Booktube video. If you didn’t know, Booktube is the small section of YouTube dedicated to book related content. There you can watch videos relating to book reviews, hear people make various lists of books that are meaningful to them, watch people wax poetically about their love for books and fangirl-ing (to a lesser extent fanboy-ing) over Young Adult (YA) characters. Even now in 2017, there is still a lot of discussion about Harry Potter, but there are also lots of users who read diversely and create lots of different kinds of videos albeit in the same bookish theme.
For a few years now, I’ve had a non-active YouTube channel and in that time I posted a few videos of challenges that I’d done but on this date last year, I took the plunge and did the Booktube Newbie tag to join a community where I could celebrate my love for reading. I became a Booktuber!
In a year, I posted videos, participated in readathons and made over 400 new friends. I’d say that’s a successful year, wouldn’t you!
In the next year, I plan to figure out and follow a more consistent video schedule. I plan to actually acquire some more professional equipment so I can offer my viewers better quality videos than what I’ve made so far with just my trusty iPhone 6 Plus. I think I’ve done pretty well with what I have though. I’ve experimented with different kinds of videos so I feel more comfortable producing content that I enjoy and that I think viewers will like to watch and interact with as well. I have lots of plans for my YouTube channel. I’m no “Superwoman” (Lilly Singh aka Superwoman is arguably one of the most successful and influential YouTubers) but I am looking forward to soaring to new heights and doing great things with this channel.
If you haven’t already, click the link to visit my YouTube channel and subscribe while you’re there so you can see what else I get up to in the next year.

Thank you so much, Kay. You’re right that it can be challenging to juggle both media but it is also twice the fun.
