June to July

It’s in the bag. June has ended. In fact, the first 6 months of the year are behind us and the long days of summer are officially here. With these longer hours of daylight, it becomes a little easier to get things done. I wake up earlier, go to bed later, and because I’m getting settled into daily exercise, I actually need less sleep too. Here’s a little look back at June and how I want to learn from my mistakes and improve in the next half of 2017.

At the beginning of June, I set these intentions:

  • Complete weeks 21 to 24 of the savings plan – I am behind with the totals being squirreled away but am still trying to save regularly to keep building the habit.
  • Read 10 books, including 4 Non Fiction – I only finished 5 books, 2 Fiction, 3 Non Fiction
  • Write creatively everyday – I did
  • Publish my next book – Nope. Still didn’t happen yet
  • Read 3 books of the Bible – Check
  • Blog every day – Yes. I did.
  • Continue the weekday running challenge and run 40 cumulative miles – I did. I ran 44 miles 🙂
  • Reach 500 YouTube subscribers – still in the 440s but rising steadily and I am happy with that

As it relates to running, I am proud that I took my monthly mileage from zero miles in April to 27 miles in May to 44 miles in June. I am feeling stronger in my body, even if I experience way more foot pain, almost constantly. The pain is worth it. The pain is just my body rebuilding itself, or so I tell myself.

Other numbers I kept track of during the month:

  • Instagram – Keeping new followers is hard so I’m still around the 1500 mark
  • YouTube – 445 lovely people subscribed to my bookish channel. Thank you!
  • Twitter – fluctuates around 1160 readers
  • Blog – 830+ subscribers

That being said, I am now focused on taking things to the next level in July.  Some of the other things I was focused on during May and June have quieted down and I have a little more time for myself. And as I work harder on meeting my goals, reaching these targets would make me very happy.

  • Complete weeks 26 to 29 of the savings plan
  • Read 15 books, including 5 Non Fiction
  • Finish round 1 of Erin’s Reading Challenge
  • Write creatively everyday
  • Publish my next book
  • Read 3 books of the Bible
  • Blog every day
  • Produce 10 YouTube videos
  • Get my YouTube subscriber count to 600
  • Continue the weekday running challenge and run 50 cumulative miles
  • Go camping

  1. Congrats. I only had 5 books in June too. Was a slow month for me.

I will check out your YouTube site. I am not an in air kinda guy so I don’t think I could create them. But curious how others do!

  2. I actually can’t believe the first 6 months of the year are already over. How did that happen?

Good luck with Erin’s challenge! I am on my 3rd book now.
