A Closer Book

My reading goal this year is to complete 102 books and I planned to record a short review or recap of each book on my YouTube channel as a way to remember not just what the book was about but also how I felt about the reading experience. That’s when I started my A Closer Book series where each video includes a short discussion of 3 of my recent reads.

Earlier in the year, when my reading pace was a little slow, it was no problem to review the books as I read them but later when I started reading faster, I fell behind on making the video reviews. Then I got to a book that I didn’t feel like I could review because I wasn’t sure how I felt about it and I stopped posting the videos, not permanently but just until I felt ready to move on. Cut to several weeks later and I am still not caught up with the series.

Today, I posted the video review of books 55 -57. Click below to watch it on YouTube

If you haven’t yet subscribed to my channel, now would be a good time to click that subscribe button so you can see my other review 🙂 I plan to create and post a video each day this week until I am all caught up. I am reading book 79 today so that means I have 21 books to discuss over 7 videos – each video covers 3 books. It will be good to get caught up.

I have always wanted to read The Prophet but I never got around to it. I haven’t read The Tempest and I have no interest in the classics like Shakespeare, so I would probably skip Hag Seed. Tribes sounds like a great book for leaders. I am not one of those but I bet I could find something to take from this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these..

I’m so behind on my reading. I simply have too many things I want to do and since I’ve started blogging more, it has really cut into my time for reading, practicing guitar, planning for my teaching. This is not tom mention housework and all that. Alas, I guess at least I have a life full of aspirations. I admire your reading goals. Thanks for following me today. This is why I love blogging: how else would I meet interesting people like my followers and readers?? Thanks for your interesting and candid posts.

Wow you’re doing great with the videos- even if you feel you’re behind I think you’re doing awesome. I can’t imagine doing a video review lol, it would be a mess! 🙂

Good luck with it going forward, hope you have a good reading week!

Thanks for the comment, Greg. It is getting easier – everything gets easier with practice, I suppose.
