Good Time Cowboy

If you’re a fan of second-chance romances and books with western/rodeo themes, you might want to try Good Time Cowboy on for size.

In Gold Valley, Oregon, forbidden desire just might turn into the love of a lifetime…

When Lindy Parker lost her cheating husband, she gained a vineyard. She’ll do anything for Grassroots Winery, including teaming up with the hottest devil she knows, rancher Wyatt Dodge. Wyatt is her ex’s friend and has an ego as big as the bulls he rides. But in spite of that, disciplined Lindy has always wanted him…

Lightning struck Wyatt Dodge the first time he saw Lindy Parker. But there were two problems with that: she was married to his friend, and Wyatt doesn’t do strings. But now Lindy is free, and the two of them can finally explore the heat that’s burned between them for so long. But can Lindy make this good time cowboy decide on forever?

My Review

The two main characters are perfectly suited for each other and the author captures the complex relationship that often exists when two people who share a tumultuous history, come together after a divorce. However, while the premise of the story is about a jilted woman’s return to her own power, I think the story arc goes a bit too far to try to show her emerging better for it. The narrative contains stereotypical descriptions of men in what I consider to be derogatory terms; other readers might see it as par for the course.
Otherwise, the story was a quick and light read. In mass market paperback size, it spans close to 350 pages but they almost turn themselves.  (The copy I received, contains close to 500 pages but includes a bonus story entitled Hard Riding Cowboy, plus a sneak peek into the continuation of the Gold Valley series)
