Synopsis From The Publisher
One woman is forced to question everything she knows in this domestic suspense novel from award-winning author Siri Mitchell.
Georgie Brennan may be a world-class quantum physicist, but she grapples with life as a single mother after her husband is killed. When she receives a message from beyond the grave, it leads her to question the details of her husband’s death.
As she follows the clues he left behind, her discoveries increasingly implicate those closest to her. When her father is nominated as the new United States Secretary of Defense, she must uncover the truth before his confirmation hearing—even as the same people who killed her husband are now after her. Nothing is at is seems. Lies are truth; enemies are friends. Even her child is at risk. As every possibility but one disappears, Georgie may find herself to be the antithesis of everything she’s thought herself to be.
My Review
State Of Lies is a well-conceived and expertly executed tale that explores marriage and family and parenthood against the backdrop of loss and political ambition and scientific exploration. The story starts off following the domestic milieu of a marriage but quickly morphs into a mystery-suspense when husband and father Sean is killed and his surviving partner, Physicist Georgie Brennan tries to reconcile whether his death was a motor vehicle accident or something more. In the background of her life are her friends and family with ambitions and motives of their own and the scientific facts that Georgie ponders to crowd out the disturbing details of her life make for interesting reading and took this book to another readership level.
Author Siri Mitchell also makes very deliberate choices to show the main character as a powerful woman, not just in her male-dominated work environment but exuding capabilities that range from how she physically manages household repairs to how she relates to other characters in the story. These inclusions give State Of Lies a rather powerfully feminist edge.
4 out of 5 stars for this one and I highly recommend it.

I love when the main female character is strong and smart in her own right and can hold her own next to any man- that’s a trend I’m completely here for. Thank you so much for being on this tour- I’m excited to read this one! Sara @ TLC Book Tours

Thanks for the comment, Sara. I love a strong female character too because the women I know in real life are often strong in their own right and it just feels right to see that represented in books. I hope you enjoy the book as well.
