Birth of RUNWRIGHT

I’m Karen. I am a fun-runner and marathoner-wannabe, living and running in NYC.
The RUNWRIGHT blog started as a way for me to record my training progress for my first marathon. Now, it has grown to become a tool to keep me motivated and keep track of the people and things that inspire me on my journey to the starting line and beyond.
These are my thoughts during and between runs.

That’s me and Garry, who told me about signing up with NYRR and got me just envious enough to sign up for some races too. My first NYRR race and what a place to run it!
It was the first annual NY Run of the Champions – a run that circles the stadium and ends on the field of the new Giants stadium. Yes, I know it’s called the METLIFE stadium, but to us Giants fans, we consider the stadium ours. So when I ended my first race on the field, I imagined I heard Troy Aikman finally yelling “Karen for the Touchdown”.
My time was awful but it was my first race so, of course, it was a PR.

After Race to Deliver in Central Park, Nov 18, 2012.
I remember I had a hectic morning but I was excited to be helping a charity by simply running.

After my first half marathon, the Staten Island Half 2012.
I was fighting a cold, had fallen off my training plan and was exhausted by the time I got to mile 9.
Not being familiar with Staten Island, I had no idea how to leave the island other than by ferry and the only route I knew to get to the ferry was the road I was running on. So at that point, I was no longer running to finish the race; I was just running to get home. I just happened to have gotten my finisher’s medal in the process.

My cross-training exercise of choice is road-biking.
Here, I am participating in the Tour de Bronx 2012…

The perfect place to get lost. Central Park on a late summer day, with a friend who consents to running behind you so she can take your picture from a flattering angle.

I am moving back to my roots of writing and have decided to start a blog (seriously this time). I am not a runner but I am someone who believes in a healthy lifestyle and am attempting to really jump-start all that good stuff.

Good for you! There are as many reasons to write as there are writers. Write about you, what matters to YOU! And people will read it.
